About Me

About Me – May 2011

I started running in April 2010 to get fit and shed a few pounds I’d gained over a few lazy years. I started on the 15th April 2010 where I ran 1.25 miles after work with workmates. After my legs had recovered I set out to run 2 miles solo where I struggled with 2 miles – having take a couple of walking breaks.

Nowadays the distance isn’t really an issue – the longest I’ve run is 12 miles as a long slow run. I’ve taken part in 4 10k races my times going from 56 minutes (Dec ’10) to the most recent 46:24  (May ’11). My weight has also come back down from 14.5 st to 11st 10lb.

I turn 30 in October the day after my local half marathon: the Coventry Half Marathon. I’ve entered it, so no doubt will be a little sore on my birthday.

My goals for the rest of 2011 are:

1) Keep running and stay injury free

2) Achieve a sub 45 minute 10k

3) Run first half marathon (target time Sub 1:45:00)

Original “About Me’ – Posted 2010

I’m a bloke in his late 20′s who has decided to get fitter after an extended period of laziness.

Running is something I use to love but for whatever reason my love for it filtered away. My last run was 2005.

In April 2010, 5 years later,  I decided I need to shape up! This blog will detail my attempts.

Keep up the good work. I have run 5k a day for 5 days now. I have also stopped drinking and I am eating a much healthier diet.

I stumbled across your blog by accident whilst looking where abouts mine came on the search results (it’s not doing bad – got the first two if you search going sub 50!) Anyway…

I hate it when visitors don’t leave a comments on my blog so I thought I’d say hello and wish you luck with your running!

I’m doing something very similar to you. My aim was to run sub 50 at the City of Salford 10k on 5th Sept. I’ve been ill the last couple of weeks so this is goal is starting to slip away!

I get quite a bit of traffic to my site but it annoys me when no one leaves a comment so I thought I’d say hello and wish you luck with your running!
