A Quick 4 Miles (d4)

This is going to be brief! Visiting family in Blackpool, very very hot, schedule says “4 miles”… did that.

The flatness of Blackpool led to it being my quickest training run ever.

Day Three – Easy Walking

Off up to Blackpool this weekend to visit the family (I’m here now) so today’s exercise consisted of an easy three mile walk straight after work. Finishing work at 4:30pm means that if I set off when I get home I hit the traffic coming from Birmingham on the way up so I tend to ‘give it a little’ – the walk in the blazing heat was the perfect amount of time.

Plan on a 4 mile run tomorrow followed by by an easy 6 or 8 mile on Sunday depending on how I feel. I’ve got a race on the 12th so I’m starting to ‘go easy’ with that in mind! (Chip and number arrived yesterday!)

8 Miles – A Run in the Sunshine

It looks like summer has come to visit for a few days… very warm.

The first couple of miles today felt quite tough with me thinking about how I could cut short the route and turn it into a 5 or 6 miler instead. I’m putting this  down to the heat. I might also have been a little tired from the run yesterday as I usually have a day of rest in-between them.

Between mile 3 and 4 I’d shaken off the urge to cut the run short at 6m and carry on with the 8 miles as planned and I’m glad I did. (As I’d kept telling myself I would)

Saw a lot of people out running tonight as seems to be the case when the weather turns ‘nice’ – personally I prefer running when it’s cool as I perform better… give me rain any day over 25 degrees C!

Juneathon 2011 – Begins! 6 Miler (almost)

Juneathon is here again!

I decided to switch my Tuesday run to Wednesday this week to start Juneathon with something other than a walk or pressups. Also, I figured having an extra days rest from the 12 miles on Sunday can’t be doing me any harm.

Went straight from work and had planned to run just over 6 miles. Obviously I’d mis-planned the route in my head as I ended up running 5.92m – which is fine but it’s not a round number is it?  So,  not wanting to do that weird thing where I run past my house for 60m  and then turn back and run the other 60m back to my front door, I settled for 5.92m,

I didn’t plan running the route as quick as I did but during the run I felt strong, probably due to the extra day of rest and definitely felt stronger than I did running the same route a month ago, which gives me good feelings about the 10k on the 12th June.
